Let me see if I can remember my new places so far; January held "The Golden Finch" on High Street. Downtown.
I thought this place was, well eclectic. There were several options available for my vegetarian friends, however my Vegan friend who is also allergic to tomatoes had a little harder of a time making a decision. Yet, I who seem to be the most pickiest of all eaters I know... had a harder time still. I don't like tomatoes, onions, peppers or mushrooms. What most italians say "is the good stuff." The Golden finch from what I can remember offered their own homemade salsa. I've heard its good but I don't know from experience.
I remember there was little seating available. We took a seat near the window, as I love natural light, and if I recall correctly it was a sunny January afternoon.
Their desserts were offered; but it seemed liked the ones I was interested in were only offered for take out, and you could only purchase an entire dessert. Seems to me like they would LOSE money here...
Our server, if I were being old fashioned, would have been a waitress... didn't seem very knowledgeable. She had to read the specials as well as the drinks and desserts from a hand written note card.
So if you're into an eclectic scene, or if you're vegetarian/vegan you would probably like it. However if you're like most mountaineers, and you like the meat and potatoes that "stick to your ribs" I would suggest going elsewhere.
